Blundell Harling Ltd is a privately owned, medium sized manufacturing company that has been trading in the UK since 1948. The company employs multi-skilled personnel and specialises in manufacturing small to medium sized batch work serving multiple ‘niche’ markets. Blundell Harling Ltd operates from a single site of 42,000 square feet in Weymouth, Dorset which was purpose built in 1986.
Since 1948 Blundell Harling Ltd has manufactured and distributed an extensive range of drawing equipment, scale rules, templates and technical drawing equipment for use by technical students in further education, architects, engineers, specialist designers, draughts people, and graphic artists. The company also designs circular calculators branded ‘BH Datadiscs’, slidecharts and overprinted scale rules for promotional and advertising use.
Three main types of materials are used in the manufacturing processes: screen printed plastic for the scale rules, promotional rules, promotional information discs and maritime navigational aids; laminated MDF and welded metal frames in the form of drawing boards and office furniture, and powder coated sheet metal providing filing and storage solutions for industries that have the need for bespoke solutions.
Export business represents 15% of the total sales of the company. Blundell Harling products are regularly exported to Eastern and Western Europe, Scandinavia, USA, South America, Canada, The West Indies, South, West and North Africa, The Middle East, The Far East, Australia and New Zealand, India and Japan.
